Charlie Trayer Stock Dog Clinic.
Friday-Saturday, Aug 28-29th, 2009
Moe Ranch
Lewistown Montana

THE CLINICIAN; On any given day, Charlie Trayer wears many hats -- rancher, horseman, dog trainer. Throughout his career with horses, cattle and dogs Charlie has always been the same honest and patient man. He is seasoned and wise in his training methods with handling horses, cattle and dogs. For 40 years, Charlie managed the Cottonwood Ranch in Chase County, Kansas. Home to both a cow/calf operation as well as a stocker program, the ranch handles upward of 350-400 head of brood cows and 1500 head of yearlings each year--and almost all of the cattle work was easily accomplished by Charlie, a good horse, and a few Hangin' Tree cowdogs. |
Charlie invested in his first Hangin' Tree cowdogs as an alternative to hiring cowboys to work the yearling cattle. He quickly found the dogs to be irreplaceable assets on the ranch and began raising them. Charlie raises, trains, and sells Hangin’ Tree cowdogs to ranchers all over the country. |
After he began raising and training Hangin' Tree cowdogs, Charlie began to see a need to educate cattlemen and women on using dogs in their cattle operations. Charlie also saw a need to teach the people who had invested in a Hangin’ Tree cowdog with how to properly handle and use their cowdog. |
Charlie may be retired from the day-to-day workings of a cattle ranch, but his philosophies on properly mating and breeding, training and using Trayers’ Hangin’ Tree cowdogs continue. |
