K Hangin C Cowdogs is a breeder of the tough Hangin Tree Cowdog a.k.a. “the ultimate cowboys dog”. They didn’t get the nickname by accident, Hangin’ Tree cowdogs are tough, intelligent, loyal and courageous, a dog any cattleman can count on.

Hangin Tree Cowdogs are specifically bred to work cattle on the range, in feedlots, or anywhere else you want to try and work cows. Which is what attracted Wes Marquis to the breed. Wes, owner of K Hangin C Cowdogs, grew up in Cascade Montana working in a variety of cattle situations. Anything from trailing cows on the open range to heavily timbered, brushy pastures, to up close and personal in feedlots. In his search for a dog that could handle all of these and more, Wes discovered the Hangin Tree Cowdog. It didn’t take long for Wes to realize how cow savvy, gritty and smart these dogs were, not traits you would normally see with tough gritty breeds. Wes now breeds, trains and sells Hangin Tree Cowdogs, hoping to make them more attainable and affordable for the average cattleman.

The Hangin’ Tree Cowdog is made up of three breeds of dogs, the Catahoula Leopard dog- for top hunting instincts and trailing ability, the Border Collie- for intelligence and trainability and the Australian kelpie- for endurance and agility. They are a medium sized dog with a heavy bone structure that allows them to take the abuse that comes with working cattle. Hangin’ Tree Cowdogs all have docked tails and short hair coats for easy management and are a very colorful breed ranging from solid black or red to red and blue merles, meeting virtually anyone’s color preference.
